Dehradun, September 12, 2025 – The literary world is abuzz as Valley of Words (VoW), India’s prestigious not-for-profit literature and arts festival, has officially announced the winners of the 2025 REC-VoW Book Awards. Recognising excellence in English, Hindi, and Children’s & Young Adult literature, this year’s edition brings together eight remarkable authors and translators who have made a mark with their powerful narratives and creative brilliance.

The winners will be celebrated at the grand finale of VoW’s ninth edition, to be held on October 25–26, 2025, at Hotel Madhuban, Dehradun. Each award carries a citation and a cash prize of INR 1 lakh, making it one of the most anticipated literary recognitions in India.

With more than 600 nominations from 75 publishing houses across the country, the awards have once again highlighted the depth and diversity of India’s literary ecosystem. The final selections were carefully evaluated by a distinguished jury comprising last year’s award-winning authors and translators, ensuring credibility and literary excellence.

Festival Director Dr. Sanjeev Chopra emphasized the significance of this year’s winners, noting how their works resonate with contemporary issues.

“What distinguishes this year’s winners is the range of voices and the themes they take on — from questions of identity and social change to the reinterpretation of cultural memory. The personal is the political, as these works underscore. Together, they reflect the evolving landscape of Indian publishing and the appetite among readers for stories that are both rooted and contemporary.”
